Emma and Friends

I left my heart in dortmund, on the steps of the south stand, under the continuous stamping of a million fans loving their team.

I am on vacation!

Hey guys,

I’m on vacation! Going to be in Tibet and too busy ogling at pretty mountains and eating water oxen cheese to post. Will try to find a TV for the CL final but it’s not looking too hopeful, but HEJA BVB and see y’all when I get back!

Emma and Friends

I will give these prayer wheels an extra spin for Dortmund.

You have been at Dortmund for a long time. Do the young players come up to you and ask about what it was like back in 2007, when the club was still fighting relegation deep into the season?

The lads all realize that things were not looking as good for Dortmund before they got here. But many of them were still playing at Under-14 level at that time. At this early age you don’t think about it so much. I can size up the transition over the past ten years as it happened right before my eyes; I started with the high of winning a championship, nearly witnessed the BVB bankruptcy and now am able to celebrate great successes with the team. This development is unique in Bundesliga history.

Oh Mats, if you’re having so much trouble eating a piece of toast, I’d be happy to feed it to you mouth to mouth. Though I have a feeling that poor Benni here will be a bit scandalized. He probably will not be impressed either way.

This is Mario and Marco for GQ Germany. Oh god they look so unlike themselves, which is awful. Where are Mario’s chubby cheeks and Reus' smirky grin? And the clothes, oh lord who picked the wardrobe for this shoot? I have not seen tan and off-white suits since the 80s and it should stay that way. And the juxtaposition between the formal wear and the sporty shirts doesn't work when both sets are down right ugly! Marco and that green monstrosity with the collar pointing out… it was so bad that I didn’t even include all the pictures. Look them up if you want to torture your eyes.

Breaking down the 3rd and winning goal by Santana (really the whole team) versus Malaga. We basically played 1-1-4-4 with Mats launching long balls into the box, Nuri trying to be a playmaker right on the edge of the box and everyone else trying to force the goal past the goal line. That last winning goal was pinged around by pretty much everyone in the box before it was toed in by Santana.

I believe it was also Dortmund’s 100th goal in the Champions League.

Emma wandering into a Bayern Munich fanshop in a mall to drop off some blood bags marked with “adrenaline”, all set to cheerful music. This was done last year, when we won the league and Pokal double. What a troll Emma.

Who Held Each Other Tenderly Better?

To continue the who _____ it better series, I bring you: who embraced on the pitch while lovingly cupped their face better? Both incidents happened around the same time after the aggregate win over Real Madrid in the CL semi-finals.

Here is Exhibit A, where we have Marco on top of Lewy, and the latter’s face really says it all even if you can’t see Marco's.

And in Exhibit B we have Neven on top of Roman (who was MOTM for me), after making a couple brilliant saves to deny RM that crucial third goal which would’ve been enough to see them through. Notice how much closely their body is entangled compared to Exhibit A.

Stop! It’s Selfie Time

Definitely the worst of the bunch, at least Mario had an interesting sweater and Reus had a nice environment. Here Illy has a blank white wall, and he’s wearing the Die Mannschaft polo which is a total cop out. No attempt at being original were made in this selfie, so I am not very impressed.

Illy has grown up to be a real heartbreaker hasn’t he? Bild is reporting that Illy has signed on to a new contract until 2017, which matches what the player himself has been saying, but I’m waiting for official word from the club. In any case, he’s been vital to this season’s campaign and player re-confirming their dedication to Dortmund’s project is always nice.
